Comprehensive

This program will quickly establish a solid foundation for music reading, basic theory, and kinetic activities to enhance piano techniques.

Lessons are flexible, exploratory, prioritizing fun and enjoyment. The comprehensive course allows room for students to have more freedom in choosing their repertoire and play the songs they like, classical or non-classical.

RCM Program

The Royal Conservatory of Music program is structured towards meeting a minimum of 2 exams per year. Musicians will have a more detailed plan for enhancing their skills. Most RCM lessons range from 45-60 minutes per week. Compared to comprehensive, students are expected to:

  • Be dedicated in studying technique used in different styles

  • How music was interpreted in 4 genres and when to apply them

  • Learn specifics of music theory

Long-distance

Neanne has created a lesson plan for students with busy schedules or inconvenient travel distances. Google Meets lessons will have online games, video demonstrations alongside practical and theoretical teachings, maintaining quality learning by fully maximizing the platform.

Online lesson procedures:

  • Tablet/laptop

  • Quiet space with minimal background noise

  • Google Meets account

Technical requirements

Created to enhance playing ability. Piano techniques are crucial for making good sound and proper coordination. Includes studies such as: scales, triads, articulation and rhythmic play.

Sight reading and rhythm development

Neanne aims to have her students become independent and confident in their musical ability. This part of the course allows students to self-study in class and demonstrate what they have learned thus far. It is to train the speed and literacy of sheet music reading, requiring a focused mind.

Repertoire selection

Song choices are partially dependent on the type of program student chooses. A minimum of 2 songs per recital is practiced each semester, focusing on quality and memorization.

Theory

Aside from practical knowledge, it is important that all pianists develop a strong understanding on music structure, terminology, and learn efficient note-reading. Neanne has found that theory aided many students in becoming more coherent as they process the details written on a song score.
